My Amazon Saga
by: Victoria Hamilton
I was so excited; my Kindle died.
Why would I celebrate that? Well, it's old, the cover is coming apart, it had been glitchy for a while, and deserved a rest. And it allowed me to buy a pretty new one. I read. A LOT!
So I ordered a bundle of a new Kindle, the USB brick to recharge it (can never have too many of those) and a case to go with the Kindle. I ordered some other things too, like some books and AAA rechargeable batteries for my garden solar lights. Too much in one day.
As it turns out.
I got the three books I ordered and the Kindle device in the box with them.
Separately, I got the little USB charger brick for the Kindle.
There was a third package. The Kindle case, right?
Welp, no. Turns out it was zip ties.
Zip Ties!
What exactly did they think I was going to do? I mean, do they know I'm a murder mystery author and think Zip Ties go with the territory?
I processed a return on the zip ties, but it kept saying I was sending back a Kindle Case. But I never got the case; how/why would I send it back?
Also, Amazon seemed to think that I received the rechargeable solar light batteries.
Amazon does NOT make it easy to find a phone number to call customer service, but I found it and dealt with a very nice fellow who could not seem to understand what I was saying. It took a bit. Finally, I thought I had made him understand. I even summarized at the end of the call and he agreed to everything. I did not need to return the zip ties as he was canceling that return. The Kindle case would be sent out. I would receive the AAA solar batteries that very night. Promise!
Woke up today; the solar batteries are STILL listed as delivered, even though they never were.
But at least I'd get my Kindle case, right? I so badly want to get my new device up and working because I have books I'm dying to read, and I'm not starting up my new Kindle until I have the case!
However, when I look at my email I discover that no, they have not sent out the Kindle CASE, they have sent out ANOTHER KINDLE DEVICE! ARGH!
As it stands right now, I spoke to another associate who agreed that yes, the last one really screwed things up. She is trying to stop the delivery of the 2nd Kindle device, which is unfortunate because that package supposedly also has something else I ordered in it - some pretty silver thumb rings - but we'll see.
And the 'Kindle Team' is supposed to reach out to me. So far, no reaching. I await the next saga.
